Be sure to visit the commune of Amboasary Sud, located in the southwest of the Anosy region, 35 km from Ambovombe and 75 km west of Fort Dauphin (Tôlanaro). Along the banks of the Mandrare River, vast sisal plantations stretch as far as the eye can see.
These sisal plantations are vital to the local economy, particularly for the Antandroy community. Malagasy sisal fibers are highly valued, with China purchasing more than half of the production.
