Détours Madagascar, together with Antso Re, will be present at the 7th edition of the International Tourism Fair Madagascar from May 31 to June 3, 2018, at the Village VOARA (Ex-Francophonie) in Antananarivo.

 “Antso Re,” literally translated as “Call Heard,” is a National Association for Responsible and Solidarity-Based Tourism in Madagascar. It brings together organizations convinced that sustainable development is the only answer to the social and ecological crises threatening the planet. These organizations share a common goal: to establish tourism activities that combine quality services, authentic exchanges, and encounters while contributing to the development of local territories and host communities.  

Since tourism is a major consumer of resources, the association promotes the concept of sustainability: “meeting present needs while protecting and improving future opportunities.” At Antso Re, members share and commit to honoring the values of equity and solidarity, focusing on the environment, heritage enhancement, and local development.

• Environmental commitment: The focus is on respecting and minimizing the impact of activities on the environment. Practically speaking, this involves:

- Operating as a green business during production processes.  

- Raising awareness and holding accountable all stakeholders involved in tourism activities, including staff, host populations, and travelers.

• Heritage enhancement: The emphasis is on creating a balanced exchange:

- Promoting local uniqueness and educating travelers to encourage healthy and respectful encounters that preserve local traditions and customs.  

- Combating the negative effects of **mass tourism**.

• Local development: Ensuring a transparent and fair management of tourism revenue is key:

- Involving local populations in tourism development.  

- Supporting solidarity-based actions, community initiatives, and local development projects.
