Exploring the Bay

Lokaro Bay is one of the highlights of the southern Madagascar tourist circuit. From the village of Evatraha, near Lake Ambavarano, you can easily access this remarkable site. Expect a 3 to 5-hour hike to reach it, all while enjoying idyllic landscapes along the way. 

Beyond the canals and lagoons, you’ll find a small cove perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The scenery is breathtaking, with Saint-Louis Peak reflected in the basin’s waters.

It’s also common to encounter fishermen with their traditional dugout canoes on the shore. This ecosystem offers a glimpse of the flora and fauna of the Pangalanes Canal.
